The bed bug epidemic in NY has effected the whole city. Even Howard Stern was not immune to this problem as his Sirius-Xm studio was treated for bed bugs late last year. Howard has been ranting about the DDT ban off and on but today he summed it up in one awesomely vulgar rant.
Bed bugs are a problem for sure but it's nothing compared to the millions of those who died of malaria in Africa for lack of DDT.
Hey, if Howard weighs in it must be true. Wouldn't want him to get bedbugs in his hair...what an inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteIf millions of poor Africans and Asians can die of malaria for want of a gram of DDT to put in their hovel, then Howard can just suck it up.
And you thought Sunday School was bad. All those people did was mess with your head. How did a free people allow a bunch of thuggish goons in Washington to take over our lives? And having the power to punish us for doing naughty things like, you know, using INCANDESCENT light bulbs. Oh, our depravity! At least the Pope would forgive you.
ReplyDeleteThere should be a PSA all over about Bedbugs. Imagine guests to Stern's show going back to the Hilton or wherever spreading them everywhere. On this I agree with Stern. Please forgive me. Nobody wants to own up that they have them too. It's worse then we imagine.
ReplyDeleteExcept, bed bugs quickly became resistant to DDT in the late 40's when used against them. DDT would be great to bring back for the reduction in malaria it could achieve but against bed bugs, its not particularly effective.

Howard is one of the most honest commentators in the media. True story: when I moved from the I-95 corridor to San Fran Bay Area in '92 I discover Stern is not to be found on any radio station, terrestrial or otherwise. I asked a buddy from Alameda who explained "People in the bay area are too thin-skinned to listen to Howard." LA will listen to him, but not No Cal. Progressives are so tolerant.
ReplyDeleteI changed my trip to NYC to a ski trip because of the bed bug problem. I'm sure many other people did too.
ReplyDelete...effected the whole city? EDITOR!!
ReplyDeleteDDT is horrible. Killing mosquito eggs organically, and money spent on immaculate sanitary conditions, will help eliminate horrible diseases..
ReplyDeleteBut corruption most likely reroutes funds to hungrier pockets.
Diseases are not under control, because those in power prefer it that way.
I like Stern, but disagree with him.
Howard Stern IS a bedbug. Of course DDT won't kill them!

Is it true that DDT is harmless and you can drink a spoonful of it, straight, and it won’t hurt you, not even a little bit. One of the major proponents of it drank spoonfuls of it regularly to demonstrate this fact. It doesn’t hurt the fishes or the birds or the little field mice. If It kills bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, and mosquitoes, insects that carry very deadly diseases, it would really be a good solution for these annoying pests. Although anonymous just said bed bugs are becoming resistant to DDT as well - Tracy
ReplyDeleteBed bugs are one of the most irritating creatures on the planet. They are little insects that suck human blood for their survival. Though the commonly accepted is that they are too tiny to be seen, it's not entirely true. These insects often come to life in our homes at night, therefore making it all the more difficult for us to spot a bed bug infestation.bed bugs los angeles
