The Las Cruces, NM, Tea Party event was a smashing success. Nearly 1000 really great people. One agitator/infiltrator "photographer" who apparently didn't know my protest sign "STOP Big Brother" was a reference to Orwell. Chiming in on the symbols. That isn't a swastika on the back of the shirt, but there is definitely Nazi symbolism. The eagle's head and Maltese Cross are historical German military symbols, but the twin lightning bolts are an SS symbol.

ReplyDeleteWhat seems interesting to me is that if you look at all the Tea party blogs on the web where this video is posted you'll find that they're all calling him a Democrat plant, an infiltrator and most boldly, a lefty. Somehow the right wing is trying to portray the Klan as a left-wing organization. They're not saying that lefties are acting like Klan people to give the Tea Partiers a bad name, they're actually saying that the Klan is a left-wing construct!
In some of the comments on the various blogs there are people pointing out what I think, namely that this guy is for real. I think the Klan might feel a little bit jilted by the tea partiers because the tea partiers are ashamed of how it would look to the general public if it is known that there are racists among them. The Klan is being shoved deep into the closet by the TP's.
So the right wing is doing what they do best denial and shoving the parts of themselves that don't reconcile easily with their public personae into the closet and locking the door.
BTW, I voted for Obama and think he's doing a good job. I was at the rally not to infiltrate, but to listen and learn. Just like when you to another doctor for a second opinion.
To the Tea Partiers I would say this, don't be so paranoid about infiltrators. Sure, there might be some, but most lefties wouldn't waste their time. I also think you'd be hard-pressed to find a lefty dressed in nazi regalia just to point out the truth that there are racists among you.

In my business, I have to read people, and looking at this guy, I see a fifty something, local guy that's full of himself, but prolly not smart enough to come up with this ruse by himself, as in following someone elses brainstorming.

a local kinda guy, maybe grew up and went to school locally and settled into a blue collar union job and did the wife and a couple a kid thing, but maybe a divorced or 2nd marriage guy due to temper, abuse and/or drinking.
a bad back, maybe a surgery at one point, but surely not doing the labor work these days, but would guess he's on disability, with second thoughst that he could be a truck driver, re-skilled to a desk, or long shot, a farmer, but it's planting season.
and sure is beer fat, and looking at his face and demeanor, would go as far as drunk, or alcoholic, the DUI and bar brawler kind, could probably find him in a local bar bragging about his exploits, and that may even be the gay bar, secret or not so secret part of his life.

I also would have looked at the watch he was wearing, a wedding band or other jewelry, says a lot about a person, and lastly his shoes or boots says a lot as well, couldn't get a good view of them, but in a flash towards the end of the vid.
a well thought out and paid for costume would included some storm trooper boots you'd think, but maybe expenses or his back prevented that. seemed like he had the sensible comfortable shoes on.

To try to make the abolishment movement a progressive is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. Lincoln wasn't the best example of a conservative, but Lincoln didn't factor into the Reconstruction Period. He may have freed the slaves, but he had nothing to do with their civil rights, he was dead. His vice-president, a Democrat named Andrew Johnson, fought against EVERY bill the "Radical Republicans" as they were known at the time, submitted for the betterment of the 'freedmen'. He eventually got himself impeached, and narrowly missed being removed from office, by one vote.
Oh yeah, John Wilkes Booth? A member of a Radical Democrat group that tried to take out not only the President, but the entire administration, even Johnson, who they thought would too weak against the abolishinist members of the legislature. The Secretary of State, William Seward, was stabbed, but survived.
The Southern Democrats are what kept the Democrat party alive for the next 100 years. They got a boost by the Progressive movement in the 20's and 30's as well. Eugenecists and population tailoring by birth control was routinely targetted towards blacks. Margaret Sangor, founder of Planned Parenthood and eugenics supporter even spoke at KKK rallies.

Just because you disagree with his ideas doesn't mean he can't attend. I may disagree with his message and everything he says, but he has the right to be himself just as you and I have that right.

The same with the Klan. Yes, they were Southern Democrats for many years, often called Dixiecrats. They were conservative populists who were in the big tent of the Democratic Party for decades. But when Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, they defected en masse to the Republican Party, especially when the Republicans adopted the Southern Strategy under Nixon.
Look it up.
The parties have reversed roles. In the 1860's, the Republicans were the bleeding-heart liberal reformers who promoted equality, and the Democratic party was conservative. In the early 20th Century, after Teddy Roosevelt, the Republicans turned into a right-wing pro-business party, and its liberal wing (the Progressives) migrated to the Democrats under FDR.
Learn some history, people.

ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm a moderate who doesn't agree with the extreme statism of totalitarian regimes nor with extreme laissez-faire libertarianism. I think both extremes are recipes for human suffering.
I believe in the free market for the vast majority of the economy, but that government also has a role. I don't agree with the extreme anti-government rhetoric. In a democracy, government can be a tool in the hands of the people, as long as they actively participate in their democracy. Government can regulate commerce and provide services that the free market does not provide very well.
You'll notice that I was able to state my opinion without once resorting to name-calling.

You always whine and whine and whine about free speech and Obama is blah blah constitution blah blah blah and then when a guy shows up to your rally too support you honestly support you, you tell him too leave. Denying him his free speech and his place in a movement he and his crowd helped build. He said he was a member of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a group with plenty of ties too the Teabagging movement and many conservative and racist groups. The teabaggers don't really care about healthcare or whatever they are whining about now it was just fear of a dark skinned president and fear that the 8 years of Bush were somehow going to be overturned because a conservative "democrat" who really shares more in common with Bush than he would with Marx is in the office. There are too many things that this person said over 5 minutes that are not the actions of a "plant." You have to remember that this person is now on video promoting major Nazi and white supremacist organizations. That is a very serious slur to that persons reputation. I have noticed that the "Council of Conservative Citizens" (CofCC) that he mentions is very popular in the Great Lakes area. In fact that very group, CofCC recently met with another racist group in Chicago and is actively recruiting individuals.
I have also seen, as I am sure you can also discover, that a number of racist groups and hate groups are using the Gadsden flag as their banner. They do this because that way they don't have to use the American flag, as many of them are actively anti-American.

The condition of the shirt and hat are somewhat weak connections. I am glad he was kicked out of the rally though. If he is a hard-core supremacist he is a definate embaressment, a distraction, and certainly not a shining example of what the Tea Party stands for. I live here in AZ and there are certainly enough racists around here. Most tend to hide it well. When I see multiple comments in the local paper by them I always look for the tell tale signs, and they never fail to pop up, lol, expressions like "jew bankers" "white culture" etc., are a dead give-away.

They purposefully act like over the top idiots in order to have a demon for leftists to associate with any of their enemies. ReplyDeleteAs far as his comments about "affirmative action" style legislation. I hate when racists talk about that. It gives people the impression that it's racist to oppose racially based legislation. I oppose that style of legislation simply because it IS racist. Constitutionally people of all races have the same natural rights under the law. The unconstitutionality of institutional racism has been settled for a long time. There is no excuse for laws that discriminate against people based on skin color, even if it's "for a good cause". If congress can pass a law which gives minorities and unfair advantage regardless of individual achievement, what's to say they can't pass a law giving them an unfair disadvantage regardless of individual achievement? Racism, in my opinion, is a fairly small problem in this day and age. That these race pimps constantly identy themselves with Martain Luther King makes me vomit a little bit in my mouth. MLK never said that he had a dream of collective privileges being handed out by a social engineering omnipotent government to certain groups of people based on their sexual orientation or skin color in order to get re-elected term after term and scare people away from accepting liberty as a political position.
As far as the swastika being a love symbol. Kind of sort of true, actually. Hitler didn't design it, he ripped it off from Native Americans. I was always under the impression that it had to do with the procession of the four seasons, but it's hard to tell for sure with old symbols like that. I know that before Hitler destroyed it, it was generally regarded as a positive symbol, and associated as something of a peace sign (while the modern "peace sign" is actually a death rune with a circle around it).
ReplyDeleteDo remember, Hitler ran as a socialist "peace" candidate, and so his use of the symbol was closer to the propaganda effect of the Obama "Hope" poster than anything. It was meant to make his party look like "the good guys". Well, they got elected, overthrew the German Constitution, and we all saw how that turned out. I'm looking forward to voting "Hitler" out in 2012, if you know what I mean.
silverrocket: If you study your history, the KKK was founded by the Democratic party. Hitler was a socialist big government tyrant, not a libertarian. The holocaust never could have occurred without the help of a massive government and socialist programs (such as the euthenasia of "undesirables" under their social health care). Unless he's actually confused about the nature of his organization, and by his brazen attitude and arrogant body language, I'm guessing this guy is probably "higher up on the food chain" of his organization, he's definately a plant.

They recruit ignorant people into their organizations (usually run by FBI agents covertly). They've plotted to take back the USA ever since, and the British subject Obama is more than willing to help them do that. There is a swastika inside the iron cross. If I met one of these guys at the tea party I would tell him to get out because the movement isn't about national socialism, nor about the socialist ideology called fascism. I've been at the tea party protests a few times (you can find my picture online holding a pitchfork sign at a protest) and I never ever saw any racist signs or shirts. If a major or even minor theme of the tea party was racism then I'd have expected to see something.
